In the Beginning...

My story starts in March of 1959 in Pensacola Florida.  My childhood was spent in Jackson, Mississippi with my parents and three younger brothers.

I attended junior college and business college with my final decision being to go to Bible college in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.  I graduated there in 1979.

Before marrying I spent a lot of time working for churches as a youth minister, secretary, singles minister and many various positions that were needed in different churches in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Mississippi.  I also worked as an executive secretary to the auditor of a bank as he managed the audit department of a large bank and its many branches.

Marriage

I met my husband, Tom through his cousins.  He is originally from Missouri.  With family members in Jackson he moved down in his late teens and started attending vocational school and became a master electrician with his own electrical construction business.  To make a long story short, I became his secretary.... Tom and I married on January 19, 1983. We celebrated our 25th anniversary this year.

Family

We have four grown children.  Bryan, 23,  our oldest is currently attending Harvard in Boston.  He is working full time and taking classes as he able.

Monica, 22 in April, is a Senior at Mount Mercy.  She will be teaching elementary education.  She is also getting married in March next year to Andrew Hamilton.  Andrew is a software engineer at Rockwell Collins.

Andrew, 20 in April, just got married in December to our wonderful daughter in law, Ashley.  They are both attending Kirkwood.  Ashley is heading to the nursing field and Andrew somewhere in the medical field as well.

Jason, 18, is a Junior at Jefferson.  He is currently involved with the track team.  We all agree that Jason got all the sports genes!  This kid can run, jump, kick, and anything else better than all the rest of us.  His favorite classes are Science and History.  He is exploring many different avenues for college.

I've been blessed with a great family.  We're not perfect by any stretch of the imagination.  But I wouldn't trade any of us for the world either!

Living in Iowa

We moved to Iowa in December of 1999.  Tom accepted a job with Rockwell Collins.  Our first home was on the Northwest side of Cedar Rapids.  We purchased the home we live in now on the Southwest side of Cedar Rapids during the summer of 2004.  I enjoy living in Iowa.  It has been a beautiful winter and I am looking forward to an even more wonderful Spring.

Recent Changes

Tom has recently changed jobs.  He is now working for the University of Iowa as a research engineer in the Physics and Astronomy Department.  Go Hawks!
